Our History

"Make a start." That is what I heard in January of 1996 and I knew that God had given me the assignment to establish our ministry. We had nothing except that instruction. The next week, in our kitchen, at the table, four of us sat and made a start. We sang some songs, read some scriptures and dared to announce to a few people that we had started a "church." Some laughed, some prayed and some considered what it might become. We did not have the luxury of contemplation. We only had assignment.

Weeks passed and before we know it four seats were not enough and adding chairs around the table was still insufficient so we moved into the den and then spread out across the living room and finally we need one entire side of the basement. We had to buy folding chairs from Sam's but as we grew over the next year, we knew the house church days were over. With much pomp and circumstance the congregation of Pleasant Place was now holding its weekly services in the Holiday Inn. First in the smallest, then a larger, until finally we required the largest one of all, which held about fifty people. Oh, the heavens were smiling on us. We had come so far in just two years of toiling.

Now we were ready and God opened the doors of Greater new Macedonia for us as our new church home. We were going to have church in a church. In 1998 we moved into Greater New Macedonia and in January 1999, together, my husband and I were ordained and installed as pastors along with our first ordained deacon. We had grown into a pleasant gathering of families with weddings and babies and christenings and baptisms and graduations and choirs and drama and dance and Holy Spirit fillings and ordinations and all of the things that real churches have; we were doing what He told us to do and it was amazings and graduations and choirs and drama and dance and Holy Spirit fillings and ordinations and all of the things that real churches have; we were doing what He told us to do and it was amazing.
